Leveraging the Pomodoro Method to Work Smarter

The pomodoro method uses a timer to break work into small intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, followed by short breaks. Each interval is known as a “pomodoro”, which is the Italian word for tomato, named after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Francesco Cirillo used as a university student.  To get started using this technique, you select a task and set a timer for 25 minutes and then focus solely on that specific task until the timer rings without ANY interruptions.  After the timer rings, you will take a short break, which is typically for 5 minutes.  Then repeat this process for four cycles or pomodoros and then take a longer break, which is typically for 20-30 minutes. Wash, rinse, and repeat.
