2020 Telehealth Updates for Medicare
Medicare is expanding virtual care services for 2020. Officially titled, Communication Technology-Based Services (CTBS), 3 new time-based G codes have been created to represent treatment and counseling for opioid use disorders. School-based telehealth expansion
A recent report in the JAMA Pediatrics highlights a clear link between school-based telehealth programs and a reduction in ED visits for children with asthma. This study indicates a significant opportunity for expansion of school-based telehealth programs in an effort to proactively treat children with chronic diseases. School nurses are addressing an urgent public health issue, while leveraging technology to increase their reach, especially in rural and underserved areas.
